Weekly Wrap Up! Week 12

Posted by Dawn Lorenz on 11/20/2020

Dear OLV Preschool Family,

As we approach Thanksgiving I am truly thankful for being able to spend these last 12 weeks with our preschool family. I am convinced that we are able to remain open because of your diligence and help in keeping our school safe and healthy.

Our year might look a little different than previous years, but we have quite a bit going on in our Catholic School Community. Please make sure to review all of the wrap up this week so you know what to expect as we approach Thanksgiving and Advent together.

Today is the Day! #RaisingKindness2020

OLV Preschool is so excited to begin our amazing virtual fundraiser: Raise Craze!  This is a unique way for us to raise money for our school while making an impact in our community. During this fundraiser, students ask friends and family for donations via the online Raise Craze platform while paying it forward serving others. What a great way for us to teach our students the importance of kindness and gratitude while raising much needed funds. Students will spend time serving, not selling!

  1. Enter your student’s name
  2. Select at least 3 Acts of Kindness
  3. Enter 5-10 email addresses of potential supporters. Raise Craze will send all emails, reminders and thank you notes. Emails will never be shared with third parties or used for marketing.

At A Glance:

Dates: November 20 - December 11

Our Goal: $7,500

Every student can participate in Raise Craze by completing Acts of Kindness (AOK) so we’re aiming for 100% participation.

We are also looking for a parent from each class to help us with connecting with their child's class parents and promoting #RaisingKindness2020. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are interested in helping.

Jared Box: A Great Way to Start #RaisingKindness2020

The mission of the Jared Box Project is to lift the spirits of children in hospital. The project was started here at OLVCS in memory of our classmate and friend, Jared.  Our preschool wants to continue Jared’s mission, with a twist.  We will make Jared Boxes for the adults in the COVID unit at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  Our Jared Boxes are sure to comfort the COVID patients in our local hospital and this is a perfect way for #RaisingKindness2020 in our community.

To get started, you can request an empty plastic box at OLV Preschool during parent pick up. We will provide a list of suggested items to include in your box.  To learn about the Jared Box Project, visit www.thejaredbox.com

A Feast to Share

Information about Christmas items for our families will go home the first week after Thanksgiving.

Home for the Holidays

If you are traveling this holiday season please be sure to review Department of Health guidelines at https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Travelers.aspx. The official policy from the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown is below:

Persons associated with Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, such as employees, volunteers, students, or third-party agency employees who travel outside PA are required to quarantine for 14 days from the day they return to PA ,before they can return to OLVCS. Alternatively, the person may choose to be tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours of their return to PA and if a negative test result is documented, they may return to activities at OLVCS. In the case of a third-party agency employee, it is the responsibility of agency to inform OLVCS that their employee complied with this directive.
