On December 4th, Cristiano Pacheco became the first OLVCS student to compete as an athlete under the new rules allowing our students to participate in select PIAA sports. Cristiano wrestled for Bellefonte Junior High against Huntingdon Junior High. Bellefonte came out on top with a 44-34 victory, and Cristiano contributed 6 points by pinning his opponent in just 58 seconds!

Then on December 6th, Cristiano helped Bellefonte secure the 3rd Place Team Trophy at a 16-team tournament. He battled through a tough bracket of 16 wrestlers and earned an individual 2nd Place Medal!

Here’s how his matches went:

• Round of 16: Win by Technical Fall 19-4
• Quarterfinals: Win by Technical Fall 19-4
• Semifinals: Win by Technical Fall 17-0
• Championship: Lost by Decision 9-6 (hard-fought match!)
