Math Team

Each year, three students from each homeroom are chosen by their teachers to participate in the Catholic Math League. Eligibility is based on class grades, Star Test results, and enthusiasm for math!

The Catholic Math League includes teams from hundreds of Catholic schools throughout the nation. Grade-level, school teams are divided into divisions for the competition. Each division has approximately 10-12 school teams. OLVCS students compete in divisions that include schools located in PA, NY, and OH.

Catholic Math League Competitions

After completing a practice test, students complete a timed test (30 minutes) consisting of a wide variety of challenging math problems. These tests take place four times a year (November, December, February and March) during the school day at OLVCS.

Students' scores are then recorded online, where they are ranked against students in their grades across the nation. At the end of the school year, students are awarded certificates, and occasionally trophies based on their rankings.
