Forensics

Our Lady of Victory Catholic School
Forensics Program

Forensics is the art of performing a presentation to a live audience in a structured, deliberate manner in order to inform, influence, or entertain.  The art of forensics has been practiced since ancient times. The development of forensics skills can be of benefit to all students. At Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, all middle school students are eligible to participate in the OLVCS Forensics Team. Practices take place after school from about January through March/April.

Students select their forensics pieces with the help of the Forensics Team Coach. The following is a list of the types of pieces that may be selected:
  • Duo Drama
  • Persuasive Speech
  • Poetry
  • Dramatic Interpretation
  • Impromptu Speech
  • Informative Speech

All members of the OLVCS Forensics Team compete in the diocesan regional competition. Those students and student-teams that place 1st through 3rd at the regional meet are eligible to compete in the finals. All competitions take place at schools in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese.
