Under the direction of Middle School teachers, Mrs. Lisa Groves and Mr. Jim Hoy, OLVCS Middle school students, designed and build model solar cars.  

Basic materials were provided by KidTech, a State College-based nonprofit charitable organization. Students used other materials that they brought from home to complete their designs.

On May 25, 2017, the students competed in the Great Solar/Hybrid Engineering Festival. The competition included over 100 students from seven area schools.  

The students from OLVCS won a variety of awards for their original engineering designs. The table shows a list of these awards.
